Almonds

Updated: Feb 28, 2020

Hey Friends!

I had a friend growing up who had almond milk. I tried it but I didn't like it much. Then again, in college, my brother had almond milk in his fridge... I used it but didn't particularly care for it...

Cut to- ten years later - and it's a must-have in my refrigerator.

I was always the type of person that didn't put any toppings on my pizza or nuts/fruit in my desserts. Lately though, I have liked fruit in things- even food! AND, I'm eating different nuts!! Almonds in milk first, then almond butter, then cashew cream, then cashews as snacks... now toasted almonds in my meals!! Impromptu!!!! Can you even believe it?!?!

Last week, I made a rice with parsley, and then each day I had it as a left over, I fancied it a different way. First, plain with the black-pepper tofu. Then the next day, I toasted almonds on it and added diced tomatoes, lemon juice and avocado! Who would have thought that I would be using almonds on a whim.

So here are the health benefits of almonds!

1. Almonds contain no cholesterol.

2. They help maintain lipid levels in the blood, increase antioxidants in the blood stream, reduce blood pressure and ultimately, improve blood flow.

3. Good source of Vitamin E and Magnesium which helps fight free radicals

4. Almonds are a healthy fat, so they help keep you feeling full longer!

Just a little bit for ya today- have a great rest of your week!
